VIRGINIA

Virginia (Common wealth of Virginia) is a state in United States of America. It`s located in the South Atlantic region of the USA. Virginia is called as Old dominion, Mother of presidents and Mother of states. Eight of the USA`s presidents was born in Virginia so it got the nick name as Mother of presidents.  

Capital of the Virginia is Richmond and the largest city is Virginia Beach.  Virginia covers 42, 774.2 miles. It`s the 35th largest city of the area in USA.  Virginia has two parts. There are northern Virginia and western Virginia. Northern Virginia is the highest income region in Virginia. The population of the Virginia is 8, 185.866. Virginia`s Governor is Bob McDonnell and English is the official language of Virginia. This state`s logo is Sic Semper Tyrannis.

Virginia Beach, Roanoke, Richmond, Petersburg, Norfolk, Lynchburg, Alexandria and Arlington are some of the major cities in Virginia.

In 1607 the people from London established the colony of Virginia. It was one of the 13 colonies in the American Revolution.

Virginia is divided into 95 counties and 38 independent cities. It`s treating cities and counties equal.  Rockingham County is Virginia`s leading county in agriculture.

Virginia`s culture is spread across the America. It is divided into nine cultural regions.  Virginia furniture and architecture are typical of American colonial architecture.

There are many tourist attraction places in Virginia. Such as Virginia`s natural bridge is a national historic landmark. Attractions around Natural bridge highlights the area`s history and scenery.  Natural bridge`s zoo is one of them and it`s only open in the warm months. You can also visit to the dinosaur kingdom and to the monster museum.   You can do many things in the national forest and in the nature center too.

There are also many attractions around the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. It lies between the Blue Ridge and the Allegheny mountain ranges. You can visit to the Luray Caverns, national park and the old trail station. There are at least half dozen waterfalls in the Shenandoah Park. The tallest waterfall is 93 feet and it`s so beautiful.

The Virginia Beach is three mile long. You can sunbath, surf or swim there. There is also a city called Virginia Beach in Virginia.   The Atlantic fun park has 16 rides and it include a swinging sea dragon ship, a rock climbing wall, a 100-foot Ferris wheel and a kids train. Virginia aquarium is fantastic. There are more than 300 species of animals in the Virginia aquarium. You can see more than 70 types of birds there. The Chesapeake Bay is also amazing.

Chris brown, George Washington, Trey Songz, Gabby Douglas, Jennifer Stone, Missy Elliott, Thomas Jefferson, Michael Wick, Pamela Anderson, Russell Wilson, Robert E.lee and James Madison are some famous people from Virginia.  Some of these people are dead now.

Virginians celebrate many festivals and here are some of them. The Virginia state fair is held at the Meadow event park every September and the Virginians celebrate the Neptune festival in Virginia Beach every September. They celebrate also Norfolk`s Harbor fest, Celebrate Fairfax, Virginia lake festival, opera festival, Shenandoah apple blossom festival, film festivals and a weeklong carnival. That is very fun in these festivals.

Virginia is an interesting state with an unforgettable background. Virginia will always have a part in the American history.
